Workshop Evening/Night Vehicle Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for a Workshop vehicle technician.

The role will involve repairing vehicle & trailer defects, services on our fleet of trailers and other commercial vehicles. Shift times are Monday to Friday 17.30pm to 3am.

 

The Workshop Technician role:

Ensures the company fleet is effectively serviced and repaired on a cost-effective and timely basis within company and regulatory requirements.

 

What you’ll be doing as our Workshop Technician:

Ensuring vehicles & trailers are repaired and maintained in accordance with prescribed standards.

Preparing and presenting trailers for MOT inspections.

Diagnosing vehicle/ trailer-related defects using available diagnostic equipment and arrange for relevant action to be taken.

Updating and maintaining appropriate records and ensuring all relevant information is shared with relevant departments on a timely basis.

To become our Workshop Technician, you must have:

Qualified or equivalent experience in HGV/LGV& Trailer maintenance and repair.

Experienced in using transport repair tools and associated software.

Experienced in following established procedures and problem-solving and/or making sound judgements where not all information is available.

Proven verbal and written communication skills.

Holds a full driving licence + C+E preferable

Workshop Maintenance Controller

Workshop Maintenance Controller

We are looking for a full time Workshop Maintenance Controller to join the team In Lenham

The Workshop Maintenance Controller is responsible for day-to-day supervision of Workshop vehicle maintenance activities. This includes supporting Management to correctly prepare, plan and execute various work-fronts.

This will also include the allocation of jobs the workshop staff using their specific skills, ensuring the work is carried out within specified time periods.

The main tasks and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to the following:

Main tasks:

To distribute work to any technicians allocated to the Workshop, ensuring that they are provided with any necessary information required to carry out the work, along with hours to complete /our deadlines;

Ensure toolbox talks and risk assessments are carried out and signed off;

Responsible for all QA/QC checks on all product and service lines are carried out as per job requirements;

Ensure good, safe working practices in the workshop are maintained at all times with compliance to the Company’s, DVSA requirements & HSE policies.

The successful applicant should have the following:

Management experience

Knowledge and experience in vehicle & trailer maintenance & inspection to ensure O licence compliance.

Mechanical workshop experience

Be willing to work on the tools if required

Available to work every Saturday, with every Sunday & Monday on one week & do an early start every other Monday & have another day off during the week,

Will preferably have a C&E licence

Well organised and methodical.

What you’ll do:

Manage / Supervise safety of department

Manage and co-ordinate stock movements from Goods receipt to completed orders for customer deliveries

Ensure picking of orders and loading/unloading of vehicles are executed to deadlines

Planning shifts with the view to maximise operational efficiency and productivity

Ensure optimum utilisation of shift labour by effective labour planning, training and development of all staff

Accurate completion of documentation and submit in time

Manage / Supervise department KPI’s

Lead and motivate the team

Highlight to Warehouse General Manager any issues or gaps with skills, training, standards and general performance of the department

Identifying areas for improvement within the Operation and submit plans for improvements

Experience of working within MHE environment

Drive a culture of continuous improvement

Who you are:

Experience of Multi-user Logistics/Distribution preferable

Effective problem solving, with a solutions’ focus and strong knowledge in WMS’s – Red Prairie is of benefit

Familiarity with current BRC standards

Experience within an FMCG or food background is preferable

Used to working in seasonal and demanding environments

Core hours are on day shift –Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5pm, however you

will need to be flexible to train on different shifts and at our other depots, in Kent and Hampshire.

About you:

Do you have a good standard of education and have a minimum IOSH managing safety certified?

Are you able to deliver H&S training and record all necessary documentation?

Can you ensure that all measures are in place with regard to the welfare of employees, customers and visitors?

Can you undertake and complete all risk assessments and manage actions when needed with a can do approach?

Do you have a willingness to continue to drive our business forward, ensuring that all of our Health & Safety standards are adhered to?

Could you be responsible for advising, recommending and implementing actions to improve any Health and Safety standards where necessary, including compliance and relevant legislation?

Can you assist in or lead (as required) the investigation and management of incidents, providing advice on root causation, best preventative measures and sharing lessons learned.
